Phantasy joins G2.PUBG

aaa

G2 Esports, the organisation founded by Spanish LoL phenomenon, Carlos 'ocelote' Rodriguez, has followed other big organisations in signing a team for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), including Cloud9, Team Liquid and TSM amongst many others.

Joining G2 are Mark "phantasy" Pinney, Stephen "stephen" Phillips, David "velan" Velan and Jack "wack0" Middleton, with the latter two being former Overwatch pros, and the former two having been competitive Call of Duty (CoD) players.

CoD4 enthusiasts will particularly recognise phantasy, as having been one of the most prolific and decorated CoD4 players back in the day, but also as having been one of the ambassadors for Battalion 1944. Battalion 1944 is of particular interest to the competitive community for CoD on the PC, being a spiritual successor to CoD2 and CoD4 by taking the best out of both games, and consolidating it into one. Many former competitive CoD players (especially locals!) are considering Battalion as the long-awaited successor to the decade-old titles - the last CoD titles on the PC with a competitive community.

At this stage, it is unclear whether phantasy's employment as a pro gamer for PUBG with G2, will have any impact whatsoever on Batallion 1944 and its status as a potential esport title.
