Our readers might be wondering, but why Dota 2? There is no standing local competitive scene whatsoever! Whilst that may ring true, as Project EVERSIO, we've never limited ourselves to the local scene, quite the opposite: our mission statement is to put Malta on the esports map internationally, by nurturing and supporting the best talent that Malta has to offer, to make that quantum leap forward, and foray into the international scene.

Thus, we're very pleased to be welcoming our new Dota 2 team to the family. Dota 2 may not be the game of choice for the local gaming scene, but it is easily one of the top tier esport titles at the moment, being the first esport title having had over $100 million in prize money awarded, a monthly peak players of around a million players, and in late 2016 it exceeded the 13 million total active players per month.

We've launched this project with five talented Malta-based players who have just set up this team, and although it will take time for the players to gel together and start competiting internationally, the competitive drive and mindset is in place, and their motivation is what we're banking on. In the absence of a strong local scene for the game, the team will be mainly focusing on international events.

In the first few months, it is expected that the team will be practicing together, and once they've built the necessary confidence as a team, they will they start participating in European cups and tournaments.
